Namaskarams to beloved devotess!

In the next Yuga, a farmer comes to Plough this very land which appeared very fertile. A
Soon as his plough hit the place where shakthi was lying down blood poures out. On seeing this, Farmers working in the neighbouring fields raised a hug and cry, The divine force of Shakthi descended on an old lady and Shakthi narrated how she came around here,

Shakthi told the villagers to build a temple for her and promised to grace infertile couples with children, marriage for the unwed, excellence in business and career, relief from diseases, and cure from ill effects of black magic. By then the farmer who fainted was up and sought Amman’s pardon, the merciful Shakthi bided the farmer to serve her henceforth by being a Poojari,This farmer Poojari’s family taken care of the Temple for generations till date. The area being full of green lush trees gave Shakthi the name POONGAVANATHAMMAN, meaning “Amman of the Garden”.

The naturally formed ant mound in the form of AMMAN in front of this temple is decorated with haldi and Kumkum and Amman blesses all devotees in this gracious lying down form. The moment your foot touches upon this holy shrine you can experience
a combination of fear, excitement and nervousness.

In the sanctorum ANGALA PARESWARI gives Darshan to devotees bearing a Trishul with a benevolent smile. Lord Nataraja as Thandavaraya and Lord Vinayaga are also consecrated nearby. Right opposite to this divine trinity, you can see Nandhi and Pavadairayan the Guardians of the Shrine.Once you come out of the Temple you can see the temple Traditional tree in the south east of the corridor There is another holy ant mound in this place too. Milk offering to the mother deity are given at this spot,All requests made to Ma,Shakthi are done by taking a piece of cloth from ones saree and wrapping it up with a stone and tying the same on the holy Sthala Vritcha_Neem Tree.

Like unwed maidens pray her for fulfillment of their desires. Many festivals like MahaShivaratri, Mayana Kollai soorai prayers are celebrated with gaiety and religious fervor every year The Mayans Kollai festival can be traced to the belief that to get rid of evil spirits that have gotten hold of humans, A human form is modlded out of mud and made various offerings and traditional eatables.Shakthi Devi is believed to absorb all these evils. She absorbs all the evils and Sport them as garland around her neck, Devotees after the completion of all rituals take this holy sand preserve it in their homes to ward off evil forces.

Divine Words for the Unwed by Shree Amman


Unwed younger are asked to go around the temple eleven times in “Prdakshana” wearing wet clothes. During the first week the devotees Should tie a sacred yellow thread on the neem tree and then have Darshan of Amman. Every week for the next Eleven weeks they should follow This ritual and place different kinds of fruits as offerings at their Pooja room upto the ninth week. Then eat the 10th week offering. Tie the Eleventh week offering in infront entrance of the house the fruit offerings made for the first 9 weeks that are kept in the pooja room would have shriveled and shrunken. These should be collected and dissolved in Ganga in ones well at home.

Infertile couples seeking the blessing of Amman should go around the temple eleven times in wet cloths and worship Amman. Every week a different Fruit is offered and the same is to be consumed along with Neem Leaves, during the first week the woman should tear a part of her saree and wrap a stone in it and hang it on the Neem tree.

Devotees who come to have redress with regard to domestic problems, loans, employment ect are asked to go around the temple in Pradakshina eleven times wearing wet clothes. Makes offering of fruits(Lime) at the feet of Amman. The First week’s offering is to be preserved in your Pooja Room. Second week offering is lime and this should be wrapped in yellow cloth and tied in the front of the house. The third week fruit offering should be broken and spread around the house. Fourth week’s offering of lime are to be consumed along with family members, Keep the fifth week’s offering in your pooja room.

Note: Those wanting business improvements may keep the lime in their cash box. Thouse devotees wanting to ward of evil forces should go around the temple in wet clothes and make offering of limes at the feet of Amman. This should be done for seven week’s offering to be wrapped up in yellow cloth and preserved. Third week’s offering to be broken around the house. 4 th to 7 th week offerings are to be consumed.

Note:

Couples who got Amman blessings for their infertile problems they have to offering the following things to Amman. Five varieties of rice(Like Lemon rice, Tamarind rice, Curd rice, ect..), Sarees, Vraids(Jadai), Garland, Bangles. Along with above offerings perform special pooja to Amman. Similarly, Couples after getting blessings for their unwed problems can offer Mangalyam (Holy Thread) to Amman. The above Traditions are some practices in this temple.
